Social Issues Surrounding Education (SISE) Academy is a resource provided by TaLiN to enhance both the professional development of Newark educators and community development at-large in the sociocultural, economic, and political contexts which pertain to the lives of Newark students.
SISE Academy offers: *Mini-Courses-extended learning experiences, usually spanning an entire semester; organized as more of a graduate course experience. *Dialogues-small groups that meet 1-3 times around a particular topic; discussion is driven by the participants; a result of the dialogue is usually the formation of a working group. *Workshops-interactive, one time events that target a specific teaching strategy or topic; . All are developed, organized, and facilitated by TaLiN members or community leaders.
